3 tbsp (45 mL) balsamic vinegar2 tbsp (30 mL) maple syrup1 tsp (5 mL) dijon mustard2 cloves garlic, minced1/4 tsp each (1 mL) salt and pepper to taste2/3 cup (150 mL) Crisco® Canola Oil1/4 cup (50 mL) apple juice
1. WHISK together first 5 ingredients. Gradually add oil, whisking until well mixed. To thin consistency, add apple juice until desired texture is achieved.Tip:2. This is a classic vinaigrette dressing for salad. It’s also wonderful on grain salads such as couscous and pasta, and lovely as a marinade for meats of all kinds. Try it on beef or pork tenderloin, pork chops, boneless, skinless chicken breasts or on surf and turf kebabs.
I haven't yet tasted this vinaigrette because I will decide whether to make it based on the nutritional analysis. The nutrition content is given however, it is not useful since the serving size is not indicated (eg. is it for 15 ml / 1 Tbsp?)
I have made this several times and have done so without the apple juice. It has been great!
This dressing is almost perfect. I have used it now as directed and also changing it a bit by adding a little dijion mustard. It goes well in a salad with oranges and toasted pecans with fresh garden greens. I suggest you use it to-day. It is worth a trip to the sugar bush to buy syrup!
