Oatmeal Sesame Bars

Bake up a batch of these tasty treats and bring them on the go. They’re perfect for lunch boxes, backpacks or walks in the park.

Ingredients

3/4 cup 175 mL butter
1 1/2 cups 375 mL packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp 7 mL vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups 550 mL Robin Hood® Oats
3/4 cup 175 mL sesame seeds
3/4 tsp 4 mL baking powder

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Grease and line a 15” x 10” x 1” (38 cm x 25 cm x 2.5 cm) jelly roll pan with parchment paper, overlapping two sides for easy removal.
  2. Melt butter in large saucepan. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla.
  3. Cook for 2 minutes until mixture is bubbly. Remove from heat and stir in oats, sesame seeds and baking powder; mix well.
  4. Press firmly with the back of a spoon into prepared jelly roll pan.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Cool on wire rack. Cut into 2" x 1" (5 x 2.5 cm) bars or break into pieces.
