Fruit Fritter

Makes:about 28 fritters


8 cups 2 L Crisco® Vegetable or Canola Oil for frying
2 cups 500 mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
½ cup 125 mL sugar
1 tbsp 15 mL baking powder
½ tsp 2 mL salt
2 eggs
1 cup 250 mL buttermilk
¼ cup 50 mL butter, melted
1 tsp 5 mL vanilla extract
1 ¼ cups 300 mL berries


1 cup 250 mL sugar


  1. Heat oil to 325°F (160°C) in deep fryer or large saucepan.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Combine eggs, buttermilk, butter and vanilla in a separate bowl. Add to dry ingredients. Stir to combine. Gently add berries
  3. Drop about 1 tbsp (15 mL) batter into hot oil. Only fry about 3 to 4 fritters at the same time. Cook about 1 ½ to 2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Immediately toss into sugar.
