Pecan Pie

Whether you’re planning a picnic or warming up by the fireplace, there’s nothing like a sweet slice of pecan pie. It’s easy to make, and is sure to get people talking!

Ingredients

1 Crisco® No Fail Pastry recipe (see Crisco All-Vegetable Shortening package)
1¼ cups 300 mL pecan halves
3 eggs
1 pinch salt
1 cup 250 mL corn syrup
1/3 cup 75 mL melted butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare pastry as directed on package. Roll out 1 ball of dough and fit into 9” (23 cm) pie plate. Wrap and freeze remaining ball for future use.
  3. Spread pecans over pastry. Combine remaining ingredients in small bowl, mixing to combine thoroughly. Pour over pecans.
  4. Bake on lower rack of preheated oven for 10 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350°F (180°C) and bake 30 to 35 minutes longer or until just set. Cool completely before slicing.

Tips

  • For an enhanced buttery flavour substitute Crisco Golden Shortening in the pastry recipe.
